Week 4 Reflection

For me personally, starting to use technology at earlier ages is a need for this generation. During my elementary schools years, "computer lab" was us learning how to type and then later play games like Cool Math. We students never were taught how to search the web. Also, not having as much required state tests is a big deal to me and for those particular state tests to reflect on how well teachers are doing. Coming from a low income public school just says it all. Many students will never have the drive to learn and be educated and teachers shouldn't get punished for it. If they, the teachers, want to teach what they know and what feels best, then let them. The students who want to improve their lives will try to understand and take advantage of the teachers guidance. For others, it is on them. You cannot force someone to learn if they don't want too. Many multiple state tests a year I don't personally believe is a good way to represent all student and teachers. When I mean many, I actually mean being tested over 20 times in one school year. This happened to during my freshman year which was 2014-2015. It was honestly horrible. Not just because us students had to retake tests because for "some reason" we weren't doing well on multiple tests but also because we didn't get to LEARN that school year. The goal was to figure out how to pass the tests, not preparing to learn new school material.

What I would keep however is older school books and having in person assignments. Even though I do believe that we need to increase the usage of technology, students still need socialization skills and learn how to ask friends and teachers for help when needed.
