Week 3 Reflection

I think that the more children/adolescents become ingrained with the internet the more difficult it will be to keep them engaged in the classroom. Class material, no matter the subject, is never going to be as fresh and interesting as refreshing an internet page. In today's day and age there is new material posted online every minute and that coupled with social media postings makes for a whole lot of information to be gained and spread around rapidly. This is where the temptation to look at your phone in class comes from. Class itself is boring, and you don't want to miss anything happening online. The challenge for teachers is going to be keeping their students away from social media while keeping them engaged in the class material. Even if you have a no phones policy, that doesn't mean that your students are properly engaged and absorbing the material the way they should be. I think that more and more emphasis is going to be placed on adaptive teachers that can be upbeat and provide interesting and engaging lectures or class activities that have the ability to keep student's minds present. Because as students become more ingrained in their technology, it is going to be more and more difficult to keep students ingrained in their studies.
