Week 3 Reflection Derek Topp

Prompt: How do you envision Internet technologies affecting education in the next twenty years and are you happy about that?

As a potential teacher I believe that technology skills can be taught to teachers to help students learn more effectively. Technology can be incredibly helpful for special needs students. There is a line, however; technology should not replace the human connection between teachers and students. A dependence upon technology for all sources of learning can isolate students as they work by themselves, causing there to be a longer period of time for them to develop appropriate social skills. Also teachers provide a positive role model for students who may not have one. Overall, technology can be great in the classroom but should be moderated and not replace teachers.
