I believe in the next twenty years, technology will take over the whole of the education system and as much as this is great, it still scares me sometimes as a future teacher, knowing I will be using technologies to educate students. Even though this is a piece of great news, but this is also going to affect students’ abilities to think critically in most of their school-related work. students will depend heavily on technologies and I also think that will make giving instructions difficult in the majority of the schools. I also think, technologies taking over the education system in the next twenty years will add to the worries of educators because everything will be based on digital learning, therefore, they will need to educate themselves in regard to how to operate most of the digital instruments. To be honest, I do not know if I should be happy or sad about technologies taking over in the future. Yes, they have a lot of positive effects in school even in our modern days, but it is also affecting the academics of most students
Week Three reflection- Turkle
Personally. I think that internet technology learning has a ceiling it cannot pass. As it stands currently, "online classes" only work for the either the driven who are capable managing time well to fulfill the class objectives or those who find ways to game the system(as we have seen with the recent concerns about quizlet and college classes.) I would be hard pressed to believe that technology could replace the teacher, especially one who is excellent at explaining or showing the content in an understandable manner. What we need are more highly respected and well trained educators that provide the skills that technology cannot replace. I worry that with the push to "digitize education" you will see a negative impact on the teaching profession as a whole. The spread of the Summit program has me concerned about such things being integrated into public schools. I think back to Vygotsky’s idea of the Zone of Proximal development.
